Louisiana Groove by King Solomon – R&B Soul 45

Louisiana Groove b/w My Dream by King Solomon - R&B Soul 45 on Cadillac Records #503 Yet another R&B Soul tune that we chose to feature by King Solomon. An amazing R&B vocalist. While this isn't his best, it's definitely an odd one out of Los Angeles. "Louisiana Groove" features The Lad Teens Band, a Chicano Soul group who were at least partially from my home town, Hawthorne California. The Lad Teens also released a tough to find tune on the same label, Cadillac Records #502, called Keep On Rollin' b/w White Rice. This is not your typical King Solomon, R&B tune. It sounds like King Solomon and his producers were trying to get a nationwide hit with this dance 45 that mentions cities across the U.S. The flip side "My Dream" has the screaming and yelling, party like atmosphere, maybe recorded live? It has mellow and has a creepy vibe to it. It's almost as if King Solomon was going for an impression of James Brown singing, "Try Me". An interesting double sider either way. Enjoy!

  1. I played with the Lad Teens back in the 60′s and recorded White Rice, Keep on Rolling, Louisiana Groove. I was the sax player in the group. It definitely was a great time to be playing music. I try to stay true to my roots of that era. Still playing and having fun in 2013 in LA!

  2. Wow! Thank you so much for reaching out to me! I love the 3 tunes you mentioned, especially Keep on Rolling. I heard you guys were from Hawthorne, is that true?
